What is Jonathan Wilson’s background? Wilson said:
“I am a father to five, husband, businessman, and a U.S. Navy SEAL veteran. My journey as a SEAL began after graduating BUD/S Class 252. After 16 years of service, I decided to pursue other career opportunities that would allow me to focus on my growing family. I started my next chapter at Goldman Sachs as a trader before moving on to Capital Group in 2017. While at Goldman, I co-founded the SEAL Future Foundation and am honored to still serve as the Chairman Emeritus. In 2022, I received my MBA from Oxford University, which I attended to help develop the INVI concept.”
Formation Of INVI MindHealth
How did the idea for the company come together? Wilson shared:
INVI MindHealth was started after multiple SEAL Team teammates of mine took their lives. It was created out of the need for more aligned tools to address the range of mental health challenges my teammates and I have experienced and we all face. What started as a personal mission to help friends and myself became a wider mission to offer the same support to everyone. The Veteran suicide rate was moving in the wrong direction, and the current medical model felt ill-equipped and overwhelmed to address this epidemic. Realizing that mental health challenges were not agnostic to just Veterans but impact almost everyone, we felt an obligation to do something about it.”
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Wilson reflected:
My favorite memory has to be the day a user reached out and told me it worked. This individual was not in a good place and was struggling. Our algorithm detected the decrease in his Mindscore, and it alerted his swim buddy, who reached out to check on him and helped him through. The swim buddy system is a unique feature that helps one stay connected with their designated support team.”
Core Products
What are the company’s core products and features? Wilson explained:
“We are a mental health software company that has written codes to pull biometric data from various wearables. We have worked with doctors and psychiatrists, along with our data and tech team, to create what we call a Mindscore to help users understand where they are at, where they have been and where they are trending. The trend allows our users and their teammates to know and get ahead of when they may be trending downwards. We are going to be offering various solutions to help individuals improve their mental well-being. In the end, we have created a predictive analytics platform that will know which solutions work for you and which don’t with personalized medicine.”
Challenges Faced
What challenges have Wilson and the team face in building the company? Wilson acknowledged:
“The biggest challenge to our startup was last year with the bank failures which happened to align with our raise. We were forced to batten down the hatches and slow everything down to weather the storm.”
Evolution Of INVI MindHealth’s Technology
How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Wilson noted:
“The machine learning is constantly evolving with more data and user engagement.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Wilson cited:
“The company has achieved many milestones, including launching our app, creating and validating our algorithm, conducting research with Universities, crossing 10k users, and again, getting an email from a user telling us that our technology worked.”
Customer Success Stories
When asking Wilson about customer success stories, he highlighted:
“There were a few users who have reached out to share with us text threads with their swim buddies, validating that they were struggling, and our app has recognized it and alerted their selected teammate.”
Total Addressable Market
What total addressable market (TAM) size is the company pursuing? Wilson assessed:
“Although we are focused on Veterans and First Responders as our beachhead, we truly do feel that our tool can support any individuals struggling with their mental wellbeing.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Wilson affirmed:
“Our primary focus is getting teams to understand that tracking their mental well-being and staying mentally resilient will improve their overall performance, much like physical fitness. We’ve developed a buddy system where data can be shared among team members, and the team’s trend lines can be shared with team leaders where appropriate. This creates accountability and provides anonymized insights into the team’s overall mental health, allowing leaders to support their teams without linking data to individuals.”
Future Company Goals
What are some of the company’s future company goals? Wilson concluded:
“Our goal is to save lives and reduce suicide rates – to save lives by making the invisible visible. We aim to improve mental well-being, enhancing job performance and personal life. We empower individuals and their buddies with the necessary information to support each other.”
