IVP announced the promotion of Shravan Narayen to General Partner as the firm continues expanding its focus on backing product-driven technology companies shaping the AI era.

Narayen joined IVP in 2022 and has focused on supporting founders building next-generation infrastructure and application companies designed to simplify complex workflows into intuitive user experiences. His investment portfolio includes companies such as Gamma, Baseten, Glean, Perplexity, Anthropic, and Lumafield.

According to IVP, Narayen’s investment philosophy centers on backing technically sophisticated founders building products that generate long-term customer loyalty by making difficult tasks easier to use and understand. The firm described many of these founders as former operators and product-focused builders with long-term perspectives on company creation.

Before joining IVP, Narayen worked as a product manager at Snowflake, where he gained experience helping scale enterprise software platforms. IVP said that operational background has shaped his approach to investments and board-level collaboration with founders.

The promotion also reflects IVP’s broader thesis that the next generation of category-defining technology companies will emerge from teams combining strong product instincts with disciplined business execution, particularly in the evolving AI software landscape.

Founded on Sand Hill Road, IVP has backed a number of major technology companies over the years, including Slack, CrowdStrike, Figma, Datadog, Coinbase, Kalshi, Abridge, Baseten, and Anthropic. The firm said it has achieved more than 135 IPOs across over 400 investments.

KEY QUOTE:

“Shravan has a rare ability to make founders feel genuinely understood. He doesn’t just talk about partnership, he lives it. His instinct is to listen first, to understand what a company truly needs, and then show up fully, on the founder’s terms. That’s not a strategy; it’s simply who he is. It’s a natural transition for Shravan to join our GP bench.”
