Crux Capital has announced a strategic investment in Ivybrook Academy, recapitalizing the fast-growing early childhood education platform and positioning it for its next phase of national expansion.

Founded in 2007 by Jennifer McWilliams and Drew McWilliams, Ivybrook Academy has evolved into a leading franchised half-day preschool concept with more than 70 schools open or in development and an additional 40 locations awarded across 22 states. The company launched its franchising model in 2017 with support from Steve Beagelman of SMB Franchise Advisors, accelerating its national footprint.

Ivybrook’s curriculum blends Montessori principles, Reggio Emilia philosophy, and Multiple Intelligences theory, emphasizing individualized learning and whole-child development. Its flexible half-day model is designed to support academic, social, and emotional growth through small class sizes and enrichment programming.

Under the terms of the deal, Jennifer and Drew McWilliams will retain a meaningful ownership stake and continue to lead the company alongside its existing leadership team. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Crux Capital, a Dallas-based private equity firm focused on founder- and family-owned businesses, said the partnership will support investments in franchisee support systems, curriculum innovation, technology, and continued geographic expansion. The deal marks Crux’s third investment in a franchisor, following prior partnerships with Buff City Soap and HTeaO.

Of Impact Advisors served as the exclusive sell-side financial advisor to Ivybrook Academy on the transaction, led by Chris Bodnar.

Ivybrook Academy has earned recognition as a top franchise brand, including multiple appearances on Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 list, reflecting its growing presence in the early childhood education market.
