International Wire Group (IWG), a portfolio company of Olympus Partners, announced that its subsidiary Italtrecce S.r.l has acquired Special Corde S.r.l, a supplier of specialty conductors based in Gioia Sannitica, Italy. The acquisition supports IWG’s continued expansion within the electrical infrastructure sector across North America and Europe.
Special Corde, founded in 2001, provides specialized wire and cable used in power and distribution transformers, electric motors, and other electrical systems. Its products are positioned in applications that are growing in prominence as global electrification accelerates. The combined business will further deepen IWG’s relationships with customers operating in transformer and grid modernization markets.
IWG is headquartered in Camden, New York, and is recognized as the largest non-vertically integrated producer of copper, copper-alloy, and copper busbar products in the United States. The company also operates in Europe and supports customers across energy, green electrification, industrial, automotive, aerospace, data communications, and other major markets.
