Jabil announced a $1.1 million multi-year donation to St. Petersburg College aimed at expanding advanced manufacturing training and strengthening the regional workforce pipeline.

The funding, to be distributed over three years, will support curriculum development, provide students with access to real-world manufacturing technology and lab equipment, and expand hands-on training programs aligned with in-demand production roles. The initiative is also expected to fund scholarships for students pursuing certifications in soldering and mechatronics while enhancing workforce readiness programs tied to employment opportunities in the Tampa Bay region.

As part of the collaboration, Jabil’s engineering and manufacturing teams will work closely with SPC faculty to design an industry-relevant curriculum. The programs will prepare students for roles such as solderers, robotics technicians, and semiconductor technicians, positions that are critical to sectors including automation and renewable energy.

Jabil, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, employs more than 3,000 people across its Tampa Bay operations and maintains a strong community presence through volunteer initiatives like its Jabil Cares platform. The company emphasized that investments in workforce development are key to sustaining momentum in U.S. manufacturing growth.

SPC, founded in 1927, offers more than 300 academic and workforce training programs and has a long-standing focus on aligning education with industry needs to improve career outcomes for students.
