Jackalope Brewing Company Acquires Black Abbey

Jackalope Brewing Company has acquired fellow Nashville-area craft brewer Black Abbey Brewing Company, bringing together two longtime Tennessee brands as Jackalope enters what it described as a deliberate next phase of expansion.

The deal formalizes a relationship the companies say has spanned more than a decade and is rooted in shared values and deep ties to Nashville’s beer community. Under Jackalope’s ownership, Black Abbey’s distinct brewing identity—and its European-inspired portfolio—will continue, supported by increased production capacity, broader distribution, and additional resources dedicated to long-term brand development.

Founded in 2013, Black Abbey has built a loyal following across Middle Tennessee for its thoughtful, place-driven approach and lineup of Belgian and other European-style beers. Jackalope said the acquisition will allow those beers to reach more consumers while preserving the ethos that made Black Abbey a regional staple.

From a commercial perspective, the combined portfolio is expected to strengthen Jackalope’s ability to serve retailers, restaurants, and distributors with a wider range of offerings, while maintaining the long-standing market relationships both breweries have developed.

As part of the transaction, Black Abbey founder Carl Meier will join Jackalope’s sales team, helping expand the combined presence across the region and supporting continued growth around events and community programming. Jackalope said it will integrate Black Abbey into its operations thoughtfully, with continued availability of Black Abbey beers, expanded regional reach, and increased participation at festivals and local community gatherings.
