Leading independent Australian law firm Johnson Winter Slattery (JWS) announced it has appointed banking and finance expert Charlie Detmold as a partner in the firm’s Melbourne office. Charlie brings over 20 years of domestic and international experience in project finance, acquisition finance, and corporate finance, particularly in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.
Charlie acts for borrowers and sponsors, and financiers on the full spectrum of financing transactions. He has advised on project, acquisition and corporate financing across various asset classes, including renewables – solar, wind (onshore and offshore) – gas, resources, transport, social infrastructure, and digital infrastructure. Plus, he has extensive experience in finance transactions in the context of competitive bid processes for infrastructure assets and projects, including privatisations and public-private partnerships. He also has particular expertise in multi-sourced financing transactions involving export credit and other governmental funding agencies.
Detmold started his career in 2001 as a judge’s associate in the Federal Court, before moving up the ranks at three other prominent law firms in Australia and Europe.
