JPMorganChase To Deploy Over $750 Billion Through 2035 To Expand Housing Supply And Homeownership

JPMorganChase plans to deploy more than $750 billion through 2035 to increase housing supply and support homeownership across the U.S. as part of its American Dream Initiative.

The commitment represents a nearly 40% increase in the firm’s housing capital deployment compared with the previous decade. JPMorganChase plans to help finance 1 million affordable housing units and assist 500,000 homebuyers in purchasing homes.

The firm intends to deploy capital through debt, equity, grants, mortgage lending, and other financial solutions while working with developers, property owners, nonprofits, governments, and other housing stakeholders.

JPMorganChase plans to increase mortgage lending by more than 40% and help 500,000 customers purchase homes, including 200,000 first-time buyers. The company also plans to hire 850 Home Lending Advisors, introduce new digital tools, explore financing for modular and manufactured housing, and support programs intended to lower mortgage costs and expand down payment assistance.

Alongside the capital commitment, JPMorganChase plans to advocate for policies intended to increase housing construction and improve affordability. These efforts include streamlined zoning and permitting, modernized building codes, expanded housing tax credits, public-private partnerships, and policies that increase the role of private capital in the mortgage market.

The firm will also serve as chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s newly formed Housing Advisory Council, which is intended to bring businesses and other stakeholders together to develop housing policy recommendations at the local, state, and federal levels.

San Francisco will be one area of focus. JPMorganChase plans to provide nearly $200 million in financing for a 342-unit residential building at the Power Station development, make up to a $15 million equity investment in Fifth Space’s Essential Housing Fund, and provide $6 million in grants to organizations working to increase housing supply in the region.

The firm’s previous financing at the Power Station helped deliver the Sophie Maxwell building, which includes 105 permanently affordable apartments for middle-income residents. Fifth Space’s new fund is expected to support approximately 250 affordable housing units in Potrero Hill.

The broader American Dream Initiative is designed to expand economic opportunity through investments and programs covering housing, small businesses, financial planning, employment, healthcare, and local institutions.

JPMorganChase had approximately $5 trillion in assets and $375 billion in stockholders’ equity as of June 30, 2026.
