Kalos Ventures Management has announced the final close of its oversubscribed $78.8 million inaugural fund, backed by investors including ZOMA Capital, GCM Grosvenor, MassMutual, Sorenson Impact Advisory, and Pivotal Ventures, a Melinda French Gates organization. The New York-based early-stage venture capital firm is building a concentrated portfolio of technology companies addressing critical infrastructure needs across the workforce, care, and education sectors.
Kalos was founded and is led by Managing Partner Ashley Bittner, who brings more than a decade of sector-focused investing experience, including her time at Owl Ventures, a $2 billion AUM education-focused fund, as well as roles as a Special Assistant in the Obama Administration’s Department of Education and a teacher in the Bronx through Teach for America. The all-women founding team also includes Partner Renée Beaumont, who brings more than 25 years of investment experience spanning Goldman Sachs, Providence Equity, and Generation Investment Management; Principal Kate Ballinger; and Toni Alejandria, Head of Investor Relations and Community. Bittner has served on 19 boards including current roles with Transfr, Tilt, Mirza, and Manifest.
The fund’s thesis is anchored in two converging demographic and economic forces: the projection that 50 to 55% of U.S. jobs will be reshaped by AI over the next two to three years, and that by 2034 older adults will outnumber children in the United States for the first time in history. Kalos said it leads early-stage rounds in companies founded by experienced operators with unique insight into these challenges, offering advisory support on capital formation, ecosystem building, and talent strategy beyond the initial check. Current portfolio companies include Manifest, an AI-native platform for SMB owners; Rosarium Health, a tech platform facilitating home modifications for aging in place; and a company in stealth founded by Jeff Wald.
KEY QUOTES:
“Our founders are building real solutions to help people thrive in this time of major societal and economic upheaval, and Kalos is positioned at the center of this transformation. We take an intentional, hands-on approach with our investments, writing lead checks and rolling up our sleeves with every founder we back. We measure our impact by what we contribute to our founders beyond capital.”
Ashley Bittner, Managing Partner, Kalos Ventures
“The success of Kalos Ventures’ latest fund underscores the need to meet the demands of radical shifts in the future of work and our aging population. Ashley and her team understand this deeply and have carefully built a portfolio of companies that are changing how we work, learn and age.”
