Kamino has named Yieldstreet co-founder Michael Weisz as CEO and is establishing a New York presence as the Solana-based credit platform expands from decentralized lending into broader institutional financial-market infrastructure.
Kamino has processed more than $650 billion of cumulative transaction volume and originated more than $20 billion of loans. The company said it has recorded no bad debt across market cycles, no hacks or security incidents and has undergone more than 30 independent audits.
Weisz brings extensive experience connecting alternative assets with investors.
As co-founder of Yieldstreet, now Willow Wealth, he helped build a direct-to-consumer alternatives platform serving more than 500,000 individual investors and deploying more than $6 billion alongside institutions including Goldman Sachs, Carlyle, KKR, Ares, Fortress and StepStone.
Under Weisz, Kamino plans to deepen relationships with asset managers, financial platforms, regulated service providers and capital providers while building an institutional team in New York covering finance, product, legal, compliance and business development.
The strategy extends beyond simply tokenizing traditional financial assets.
Kamino is developing infrastructure around four interconnected functions: investor distribution, legal and compliance workflows, asset-manager lifecycle operations, and credit and liquidity. The goal is to provide the infrastructure needed for tokenized assets to be distributed, financed, used as collateral and traded after issuance.
Kamino’s existing real-world asset activity is already becoming meaningful. Its PRIME market, developed with Figure Technologies and Hastra and backed by Figure’s on-chain home-equity lines of credit, surpassed $600 million in deposits within 107 days of launch.
Tokenized equities from Nasdaq-listed companies including Forward Industries and Galaxy are also accepted as collateral.
Kamino is evaluating office space in New York and plans to continue building on Solana while adding the regulatory, distribution and operational capabilities needed to serve U.S. institutions.
