Kapta Space raised $24 million in Series A funding to scale production of its next-generation spaceborne radar technology and support multiple classified moving target indication contracts secured earlier in 2026. The round was led by Washington Harbour Partners and co-led by Bison Ventures.
MetaVC also participated alongside new and existing investors including MYDA Capital, Entrada Ventures, Aurelia Foundry, and Fitz Gate Ventures.
The financing brings Kapta Space’s total funding to $30 million.
Seattle-based Kapta develops electronically steerable radar payloads for space-based intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and tracking missions.
Its technology is designed to address the challenge of maintaining persistent awareness of moving threats across air, sea, and land.
Kapta’s core technology is its modular Metamaterial Electronically Scanned Array architecture.
The software-defined MESA platform is intended to provide radar performance with lower cost, power requirements, and manufacturing complexity than conventional active electronically scanned array systems.
The architecture combines a wide field of regard with rapid electronic beam steering and scalable apertures.
This enables spacecraft to search for targets, track their movement, revisit areas, and maintain awareness of dynamic targets.
Kapta plans to use the Series A funding to advance flight qualification, expand manufacturing capacity, and prepare for its first orbital demonstration.
The company ultimately plans to supply radar payloads for large satellite constellations supporting moving target indication and advanced ISR missions.
KEY QUOTES:
“This investment allows us to advance our technology, expand manufacturing, and work with strategic partners to bring that capability through flight qualification and into contracted orbital missions.”
Milton Perque, Founder and CEO of Kapta Space
“Kapta’s MESA architecture changes that equation with a modular, highly manufacturable approach to electronically steerable radar.”
Mina Faltas, Founder and CEO of Washington Harbour Partners
