Kardium will receive up to $31.25 million from the Government of Canada to support a $125 million project expanding manufacturing capacity for its Globe Pulsed Field System in Vancouver, British Columbia. The federal funding is being provided through Canada’s Strategic Response Fund and will support an expansion of Kardium’s cleanroom manufacturing infrastructure.
The project is designed to provide additional capacity as Kardium scales manufacturing of the Globe System following regulatory approvals in both the U.S. and Canada.
The Globe System received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval in August 2025 and Health Canada approval in July 2026.
Kardium develops the Globe System as an integrated cardiac mapping and ablation platform for treating atrial fibrillation, the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia.
The system combines high-density mapping and pulsed field ablation in a single catheter.
It is designed to give physicians real-time information that can help guide catheter positioning, evaluate tissue contact and deliver targeted treatment.
The manufacturing investment will allow Kardium to increase production while maintaining key intellectual property, specialized technical expertise and advanced manufacturing jobs in British Columbia.
Canada’s contribution represents up to one-quarter of the overall $125 million expansion project.
For Kardium, the additional cleanroom capacity is intended to create infrastructure capable of supporting broader commercialization of the Globe System as the company expands availability to physicians and patients.
The investment also strengthens British Columbia’s position in advanced medical technology manufacturing by retaining product development and manufacturing capabilities within the province.
The federal government framed the funding as both an industrial investment and a healthcare technology initiative, emphasizing advanced manufacturing capacity and high-value employment.
Kardium, meanwhile, sees the manufacturing expansion as an important step toward supporting international demand following the system’s regulatory milestones.
