Katten has added Genevieve Weiner as a partner in its Restructuring practice in Los Angeles, expanding the firm’s capabilities across complex financial restructurings and distressed transactions.
Weiner represents secured and unsecured creditors, lenders, debtors and other stakeholders in restructuring matters, distressed M&A, assignments for the benefit of creditors, receiverships and out-of-court restructurings.
Her practice spans industries including healthcare, real estate, technology and general corporate matters.
For financial institutions, private credit and alternative lenders and trade creditors, Weiner advises on distressed investments, loan enforcement, cash collateral, debtor-in-possession financing, adequate protection disputes, claims prosecution and bankruptcy litigation.
She also represents private and public companies experiencing financial distress and strategic buyers pursuing distressed acquisitions through Section 363 sales and UCC foreclosure proceedings.
Weiner joins Katten from Sidley Austin and has been recognized by Chambers USA for Bankruptcy/Restructuring in California.
The American Bankruptcy Institute also named her to its 40 Under 40 list in 2022.
Her arrival represents another investment by Katten in its California platform and gives the firm additional restructuring capabilities on the West Coast.
Katten has nearly 650 attorneys across the U.S., London and Shanghai.
