kausable Raises €12 Million Seed Round To Develop Self-Adapting AI Models

kausable has raised €12 million in seed funding to develop reasoning-first AI models designed to adapt to changing conditions without requiring continuous retraining. The round was led by UVC Partners and Entourage, with additional participation from HTGF and Mätch VC. The company is also backed by angel investors affiliated with organizations including Black Forest Labs, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Noxtua and the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems.

The Heidelberg, Germany-based startup is developing what it describes as a world model that uses causal reasoning and a foundational understanding of how systems behave to respond to new situations.

Conventional AI models are generally trained on historical information and may require additional data and computing resources when conditions change. kausable is seeking to create models that can infer relationships, adapt with limited new information and address problems that were not included in their original training.

The company sees potential applications in robotics, energy, finance, medicine and other environments where conditions change rapidly and rare events can have significant consequences.

kausable has developed TipPFN, a zero-shot forecasting model designed to predict uncommon but consequential events within complex systems. A zero-shot model attempts to perform a task without being specifically retrained for that particular scenario.

The company said its researchers recently co-authored a paper with Columbia University experts supporting the causal reasoning architecture underlying its technology.

kausable was founded in 2025 by CEO Johannes Haux, CTO Dr. Benjamin Herdeanu and COO Gregor Ramien. The founders are physicists with ties to Heidelberg University and Black Forest Labs, along with experience in startups and regulated industries including banking and cybersecurity.

The company raised a €1.5 million pre-seed round during its founding year. It plans to use the latest financing to expand its nine-person team and continue developing its rapid-learning frontier model.

KEY QUOTES:

“With kausable we solve this problem by developing a new kind of world model that learns efficiently and robustly on its own and adapts to the ever-changing world.”

Johannes Haux, Co-Founder and CEO of kausable

“kausable makes that effort collapse. That turns AI from a series of costly one-off projects into something that can be rolled out across an entire industrial landscape.”

Andreas Unseld, Partner at UVC Partners

“Instead of relying on ever-larger datasets and constant retraining, they’re developing a fundamentally different approach: systems that adapt, infer causality and solve problems they have never seen before.”

Pieterjan Bouten, Co-Founder of Entourage
