Indianapolis-Based Communications Workflow Company Kerauno Raises $25 Million

Kerauno, an Indianapolis, Indiana-based global communications workflow provider, raised more than $25 million in Series A funding. This is the largest single series A capital raise in Indiana history.

This round of funding included The Joan Hanley (Steinbrenner) Trust and Michael Andretti (Chairman and CEO of Andretti Autosport). Joan Hanley is the mother of George Steinbrenner IV — who is part-owner and co-chairman of the New York Yankees.

“This historic funding is a testament to the Kerauno brand and the faith that others have in the work we’re doing,” said Kerauno CEO and co-founder Josh Ross in a statement. “Our platform is all about improving interactions and engagements of customers and employees while driving more productive communications on any device, anytime, anywhere. Our software has already proven it deepens relationships and increases revenue for our customers.”

Founded by brothers Josh Ross and Jason Ross, Kerauno is transforming the communications industry by automating all facets of business process through its workflow software. And Kerauno’s latest advancement is a next-generation engine that will allow the workflow to be overlaid on any unified communications system, device, software, or endpoint worldwide.

Kerauno’s platform infuses key modes of communication including voice, SMS text, chat, email, and social media. And it provides strategic insights and actionable analytics across all forms of communication.

“I’ve been fortunate to watch this company grow into what it is today,” added Joan Hanley, “and I’m excited to see how Kerauno can change the industry. The way they connect businesses and improve business process is so valuable for companies.”

Kerauno was born out of AxiaTP — which is a B2B data network and voice company founded by Josh Ross and Jason Ross in 2008. Last year, Kerauno signed a deal with Andretti Autosport to help the IndyCar team communicate with sponsors, hospitality guests, fans, and corporate partners.

“Josh and Jason (Ross) have been associated with Andretti Autosport for a number of years and it has been a pleasure watching them take Kerauno to the next level,” explained Andretti.

Several weeks ago, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced that Kerauno will be creating over 100 jobs and investing $5.2 million in infrastructure. With this funding round, Kerauno is planning to make acquisitions in order to expedite bringing the next generation of Kerauno to market.

“We’ve been very strategic as we build our company and develop our products,” Kerauno COO Don Scifres commented. “It rarely happens that a solution intersects with the market at precisely the correct time. We have that opportunity and we have secured the first of several waves of capital that provides the Kerauno engine the fuel needed to lead the global communications market.”
