Kian Capital Partners, a lower-middle-market-focused private investment firm, announced that in partnership with management, it completed the acquisition of Eden Brothers, an e-commerce retailer specializing in flower seeds and bulbs for gardening enthusiasts nationwide.
Eden Brothers was launched in 2009 by CEO Sabine Randon, a former luxury retail executive headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina. The company provides a leading assortment of over 2,000 varieties of flower bulbs and seeds, vegetable seeds, herb seeds, and unique wildflower mixes developed in-house by its knowledgeable floriculture experts. The brand is also well-recognized among gardening enthusiasts and is trusted for its high-quality products, customer service, and educational resources.
Eden Brothers is a digitally native business that differentiates itself from traditional retailers through a depth of seed and bulb SKUs and a curated customer experience, including educational content and how-tos, with a website featuring captivating photos that help guide its customers to plan and visualize their desired gardens. Along with product and channel expansion, Eden Brothers will focus on amplifying its digital presence, expanding its library of content and implementing operational enhancements. Kian will also seek and support growth through strategic add-on acquisitions.
VRA Partners acted as financial advisor to Eden Brothers. Robinson Bradshaw acted as Kian’s legal advisor.
KEY QUOTES:
“Kian’s focus on partnering with founder-owned businesses and their expertise in e-commerce business models — with a specialization in enthusiast customer bases — really stood out to me. In addition, their collaborative approach to growth gave me the confidence to choose Kian as the right partner for this next phase of the business. As we enter the new year alongside Kian, Eden Brothers is well positioned to expand our portfolio with new products and to enter new channels to better serve our customers nationwide.”
– Eden Brothers CEO and Founder Sabine Randon, who will retain a significant ownership stake and continue leading the business day to day
“The entire team at Kian is incredibly impressed with Sabine, her talented team, and the outstanding company she has built. The home, lawn and garden industry is benefitting from favorable tailwinds with relatively low e-commerce adoption. Eden Brothers is uniquely positioned to accelerate growth and become the online destination for gardening enthusiasts. Additionally, we are proud to support the expansion of a Western North Carolina-based business following the tragic destruction left by Hurricane Helene, a cause we have supported as a firm since September 2024.”
