Kinderhook Acquires Pete & Pete Container Service and Boyas Recycling to Build Northeast Ohio C&D Platform

Kinderhook Industries has acquired Pete & Pete Container Service and Boyas Recycling & Excavating, together forming a vertically integrated construction and demolition waste collection, recycling, and disposal platform serving Northeast Ohio. The acquisition, announced July 20, 2026, represents Kinderhook’s sixth platform investment from its $2.75 billion Fund 8, which was raised in 2024.

Pete & Pete was founded and operated by the Ristagno family and has built a reputation for reliability and service across the Cleveland market. Boyas operates a material recovery facility and a permitted construction-and-demolition landfill, giving the combined company control of the full value chain, from collection at the jobsite through recovery and recycling of marketable materials to final disposal. Kinderhook said that this vertical integration and internalized disposal capacity underpin the platform’s durability in one of the country’s most attractive construction and demolition markets.

Pete Ristagno Jr., founder and chief executive officer of the company, and his leadership team will remain with the business and continue to lead day-to-day operations, providing continuity for customers and employees following the transaction.

Support: Kirkland & Ellis served as legal counsel to Kinderhook, while Comerica Securities, Inc. served as financial advisor to the company.
