King & Spalding has added Jonathan Ching and Andrew Kummer as partners in New York, expanding its structured finance and derivatives capabilities as the firm’s Finance and Restructuring practice reaches 12 partner additions during 2026.
Ching and Kummer join from McDermott Will & Schulte and bring experience advising financial institutions, investment managers, private credit funds, hedge funds, commodity companies, and emerging technology businesses.
Their practices cover structured finance, derivatives, fund finance, commodities, digital assets, securitizations, and other complex financing transactions.
The additions strengthen King & Spalding’s ability to work across several areas where structured capital solutions increasingly overlap, including private credit, fund finance, insurance, fintech, energy, project finance, and digital infrastructure.
The firm’s Finance and Restructuring group has expanded aggressively throughout 2026.
King & Spalding said the practice has now added 12 partners this year, including Ron Franklin, Andrew Bettwy, Jin Joo, Gloria Kim, Jarel Rosser, Jeff Cole, Brian Jansen, Matthew Kita, Chris Montgomery, and Mae Rogers in addition to Ching and Kummer.
The broader Finance and Restructuring practice includes more than 150 lawyers across major financial centers worldwide.
Ching’s practice includes structured finance, derivatives, commodity-linked finance, warehouse facilities, securitizations, fund finance, subscription facilities, NAV facilities, capital relief transactions, tokenization, blockchain infrastructure, and cryptocurrency-related regulatory matters.
Before private practice, he held senior legal and transactional positions at Bear Stearns/JPMorgan and D. E. Shaw.
Kummer advises clients on asset-based lending, securitizations, trade receivables finance, forward-flow arrangements, warehouse facilities, structured notes, hedging, commodity transactions, inventory financing, and energy-market agreements.
