Kirkland & Ellis has added corporate partner Alex Robertson to its Corporate Practice Group, bringing him into the firm’s Dallas office as it continues to build out its Texas footprint and private equity and M&A capabilities.
Robertson joins from Vinson & Elkins, where he was a partner in Dallas. His practice focuses on advising private equity sponsors as well as public and private companies on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and related strategic matters, with experience spanning energy and infrastructure deals.
Kirkland said Robertson will work with clients on complex transactions and will contribute to the firm’s broader energy and infrastructure platform. The firm also emphasized the scale of its global energy and infrastructure capabilities, describing a practice that includes more than 550 dedicated lawyers and works on transactions totaling hundreds of billions of dollars annually.
In addition to his deal practice, Robertson has held leadership roles in the Texas legal community, including serving as president of the Dallas Bar Association’s Mergers & Acquisitions Section in 2023 and as vice president of the Texas Energy Law Association in 2022. He earned his law degree from the University of Texas, where he was a member of the Texas Law Review and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law.
