Kirkland & Ellis announced that Damien Lyster has joined the Firm as an Energy Regulatory Practice Group corporate partner.
Lyster represents companies in the energy industry in transactional and regulatory matters. And he has advised clients on transactional and state and federal regulatory issues related to investments in and the sale or acquisition of assets and entities in the natural gas, oil and conventional and renewable electric power industries. His transactions have involved the purchase/sale of commodities like hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel, renewable natural gas, and traditional natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons; power sales and marketing; the transportation and sequestration of carbon dioxide; the production, gathering, transportation, and terminaling and storage of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons.
Plus, he also counsels pipeline and storage companies and shippers in negotiating commercial agreements and pursuing applicable authorizations from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Texas Railroad Commission, as well as midstream and exploration and production companies in drafting and negotiating gathering, processing and transportation agreements. And he works on matters involving FERC-regulated wholesale power market participants in regulatory and compliance matters.
He joins Kirkland from Vinson & Elkins, where he was previously a partner and will be working in Kirkland’s Houston office. He has earned degrees from the University of Iowa and the University of Virginia School of Law.
