Global law firm Kirkland & Ellis announced that Jason Krochak, a leading sports-industry attorney, has joined the firm as a partner in its Sports Group. The appointment is part of Kirkland’s strategy to strengthen its presence in sports, media, and gaming-related transactional work.
Mr. Krochak brings to Kirkland a substantial practice representing private-capital firms, professional sports teams and their owners, sports leagues, college conferences, financial institutions, sportsbooks, and other strategic participants in the sports ecosystem. His work covers acquisitions, joint ventures, league-expansion matters, financings, governance issues, as well as naming-rights, sponsorship, media, licensing, and a range of commercial agreements.
Krochak joined Kirkland shortly after another prominent sports lawyer, Frank Saviano, joined the firm in September. Kirkland’s leadership said Krochak’s hire enhances the firm’s sports transactions capability and fits a calculated push into what is increasingly a high-stakes industry for corporate and private-equity clients.
