Kirkland & Ellis announced that it has expanded its government contracts practice group with the addition of a partner and an associate from DLA Piper, strengthening its capabilities across mergers and acquisitions, compliance counseling, and disputes involving government contractors.
The firm hired Brad Jorgensen as a partner based in Austin and Andrew Current as an associate based in Washington, D.C. Both bring experience advising clients on complex regulatory and transactional issues tied to government contracting.
Jorgensen, who has more than two decades of experience, focuses on government contractor M&A, including evaluating compliance considerations and associated risks. His practice also includes litigating bid protests before the U.S. Government Accountability Office and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, conducting compliance audits, and supporting investigations into procurement-related matters.
Current advises on a wide range of legal issues arising under government contracts, including M&A, compliance, and disputes. His experience spans bid protests, contract claims, subcontractor disputes, and investigations, as well as international work involving foreign government entities and sovereign wealth funds across more than 60 jurisdictions.
The hires are part of Kirkland’s continued investment in its government contracts capabilities, particularly at the intersection of national security, procurement, and strategic transactions.
