KKR has completed its acquisition of Metronet, a leading independent fiber-to-the-home provider in the U.S., through a joint venture with T-Mobile. This deal integrates Metronet’s broadband infrastructure and operations, aiming to enhance fiber deployment in underserved markets.

Metronet currently serves over 300 communities in 19 states with a fiber network covering more than 42,000 miles and reaching 2.6 million homes and businesses. The acquisition strengthens KKR’s digital infrastructure portfolio, which has seen $31 billion in investments.

After the transaction, Metronet will operate as a wholesale internet services provider, with T-Mobile Fiber managing its residential customers and experience. Metronet will focus on expanding its fiber-optic network while retaining its commercial services business.
