KKR To Reportedly Acquire A1 Garage Door Service For Around $2 Billion

KKR has reportedly agreed to acquire A1 Garage Door Service for approximately $2 billion, according to sources familiar with the transaction cited by Reuters. The deal would expand KKR’s exposure to the residential home services sector.

Phoenix-based A1 Garage Door Service was founded in 2007 by CEO Tommy Mello and has grown into one of the largest residential garage door repair and replacement providers in the U.S., operating across approximately 20 states.

Private equity firm Cortec Group provided growth capital to A1 in 2022. KKR and Cortec declined to comment on the reported transaction, while A1 Garage Door Service could not immediately be reached for comment.

The acquisition would add another sizable residential services platform to KKR’s portfolio. The investment firm acquired Neighborly in 2021 and made a significant investment in Groundworks in 2023.

Neighborly operates a collection of home services brands spanning plumbing, pest control, restoration, electrical services, cleaning, HVAC and home inspection. Groundworks provides residential foundation and water management services. Cortec is also an investor in Groundworks.

The reported A1 transaction comes amid continued private equity consolidation across the highly fragmented home services industry, where investors have been attracted to recurring consumer demand and steady cash flows.

Earlier in 2026, Oak Hill Capital acquired Guild Garage Group for more than $800 million, another large transaction involving the residential garage services market.
