Klarna Card Reaches 5 Million Active Customers Globally

Klarna announced that its Klarna Card has reached 5 million active customers worldwide, marking a significant milestone as consumers increasingly adopt flexible payment tools that offer more control over everyday spending.

The card is designed to draw directly from a user’s own funds for daily purchases, while also allowing customers to spread the cost of specific items, such as large appliances or travel, when needed. This approach aims to provide flexibility without the long-term debt typically associated with traditional credit cards.

Klarna said the card’s rapid growth is supported by its membership program, which offers perks such as airport lounge access, travel insurance, and lifestyle subscriptions. Unlike traditional rewards programs, these benefits are available without requiring users to take on debt, meet spending thresholds, or carry balances.

Now available in 16 countries, including major cities across Europe and the United States, the Klarna Card is becoming a central gateway into the company’s broader ecosystem of banking and payment services. The company is positioning the card as a core product as it continues expanding into new markets.

Klarna, which has more than 118 million global users and processes approximately 3.4 million transactions per day, said the milestone reflects a broader shift in consumer preferences toward payment solutions that prioritize flexibility and financial control.

KEY QUOTE:

“The pace of adoption shows a clear shift in how consumers want to manage everyday spending. They’re voting with their wallets and looking for the control and flexibility in a single card. Unlike traditional banks, Klarna gives people the choice to pay now, or pay over time: the right tool for each situation.”
