Knot, a merchant connectivity platform, announced a partnership with RBC, Canada’s largest bank, marking the company’s first expansion beyond the United States. Through Knot’s CardSwitcher technology, RBC cardholders can set their RBC card as the default saved payment method at their favorite merchants directly from the RBC mobile app, without manually entering card details at each site.
The partnership is designed to address the friction new cardholders face when a new card sits unused for weeks while they update saved payment information across multiple merchants individually. By enabling cardholders to set the RBC card as their default payment method from the moment they receive it, the partnership aims to drive faster card activation, repeat spend, and deeper customer loyalty to RBC. Knot said it built its merchant connectivity infrastructure across the U.S. financial ecosystem before choosing RBC as the foundation for its international expansion, describing the launch as a template for future markets.
Knot’s product suite is built around CardSwitcher, which lets users update and manage card-on-file payments across hundreds of merchants, along with TransactionLink, which delivers SKU-level transaction data, and SubManager, which gives users a single place to manage subscriptions.
RBC serves more than 19 million clients across Canada, the U.S., and 27 other countries and employs more than 101,000 people.
