Kodiak AI And Bosch Partner To Scale Production-Grade Autonomous Trucking Hardware

Kodiak AI said it has agreed with Bosch to collaborate on and scale the manufacturing of a production-grade, redundant autonomous platform designed to bring Kodiak’s AI-powered “Kodiak Driver” to trucks at commercial scale. The companies said the platform integrates specialized hardware, firmware, and software interfaces needed to automate trucks, either directly on a vehicle production line or through an upfitter.

Kodiak said the agreement is aimed at pairing its autonomous driving software and modular, vehicle-agnostic hardware with Bosch’s manufacturing capabilities and supply chain strength to support broader deployment of driverless trucking. Under the collaboration, Bosch will support the development of a redundant autonomous platform and supply a range of automotive-grade hardware components, including sensors and vehicle actuation components such as steering technologies.

Kodiak Founder and CEO Don Burnette framed the deal as a scaling step, emphasizing that moving from technical capability to widespread deployment requires industrialization experience, modularity, serviceability, and system-level integration. Bosch executives positioned the collaboration as a way to supply production-grade hardware for next-generation autonomous trucking, deepen its understanding of real-world requirements for autonomous vehicles, and expand its broader autonomous mobility offerings.

Kodiak also said a Kodiak Driver-powered autonomous truck will be on display at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, appearing in the Bosch booth (16203) in Central Hall from January 6–9.

Kodiak, founded in 2018, said its driverless solution is already operating without a human driver and that it serves both commercial trucking and public-sector customers. The company said it achieved a milestone in 2024 by becoming the first to deploy customer-owned and customer-operated driverless trucks in commercial service.

KEY QUOTES:

“Advancing the deployment of driverless trucks and physical AI not only requires robust autonomous technology, but also manufacturing experience and a robust supply chain in order to achieve true scale. We believe collaborating with Bosch will allow us to scale autonomous driving hardware with the modularity, serviceability, and system-level integration needed for commercial success for both upfit and factory-line integration.”

Don Burnette, Founder And CEO, Kodiak AI

“By supplying production-grade hardware, we are enabling the next generation of autonomous trucking alongside Kodiak. Kodiak has already deployed trucks with no humans on board in commercial operation and this cooperation gives us a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of real-world autonomous vehicle requirements and to further enhance our offerings for the broader autonomous mobility ecosystem.”
