Kraken Robotics has secured $35 million in new product orders from customers across maritime defense, offshore energy and ocean science. The orders cover navigation and positioning systems, multi-aperture sonar, monitoring equipment and Kraken’s synthetic aperture sonar technology.
The latest contracts bring total product orders announced by Kraken and Covelya during 2026 to $327 million. Demand has been driven by Kraken’s SeaPower subsea batteries and synthetic aperture sonar systems, along with Covelya’s navigation, positioning and advanced sonar products.
Kraken expects its product portfolio to account for more than 75% of consolidated revenue during 2026. Its technologies are used across crewed ships and submarines, autonomous underwater vehicles, uncrewed surface vessels and remotely operated vehicles.
The company’s products are installed or being integrated across more than 30 autonomous underwater vehicle platforms globally. These systems support defense, offshore energy and scientific missions that require reliable navigation, imaging, communications and power in difficult subsea environments.
Kraken is seeing increased demand for its Sentinel Intruder Detection Sonar systems from customers in Europe and the Middle East. Sentinel automatically detects, classifies and tracks underwater threats around critical infrastructure such as ports, power plants, liquefied natural gas facilities and desalination sites.
The company also reported a growing pipeline for its KATFISH remotely operated towed vehicle. KATFISH supports mine countermeasure missions and the inspection of critical underwater infrastructure, with potential programs expanding across North America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.
Kraken expects customers to begin awarding several of those programs during the second half of 2026. The platform combines a towed vehicle with synthetic aperture sonar to produce detailed images of underwater environments.
Kraken’s synthetic aperture and multi-aperture sonar systems are being integrated into autonomous underwater vehicles for defense customers across several international markets. Applications include mine countermeasures, intelligence and surveillance missions, reconnaissance and support for anti-submarine operations.
Demand is also increasing for Kraken’s SeaPower pressure-tolerant subsea batteries. The company added multiple defense customers during 2026 as autonomous underwater vehicle manufacturers adopted its high-energy-density batteries for prototype and commercial production programs.
Kraken said several customers have switched from alternative battery suppliers to SeaPower products. These batteries are designed to provide energy for underwater vehicles and equipment operating at depths where conventional battery enclosures may be impractical.
Through Covelya subsidiary Sonardyne, Kraken also offers the SPRINT-Nav acoustic-inertial navigation and positioning system. The system combines Doppler velocity logging, pressure sensing and inertial navigation to provide real-time position, velocity and altitude information.
SPRINT-Nav can be used across small and extra-large autonomous underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, uncrewed surface vessels and specialized crewed platforms. The integrated design is intended to reduce system complexity while improving positioning accuracy and power efficiency.
Sonardyne’s Vigilant forward-looking sonar is also generating interest from uncrewed surface vessel developers. The low-power system can detect collision hazards at ranges of up to 1,500 meters and can operate independently or connect with a vessel’s navigation and bridge systems.
Kraken’s optical imaging payloads combine cameras and laser scanners to capture underwater data and create three-dimensional models. These products support target identification, surveillance and mine countermeasure missions across remotely operated and autonomous platforms.
In offshore energy, the company’s technologies support projects from exploration and surveying through construction, inspection, maintenance and decommissioning. Its portfolio includes sonar, positioning, imaging, communications, monitoring and data-processing systems.
Sonardyne is working with oil and gas producers in Brazil to commercialize on-demand ocean-bottom nodes for offshore seismic monitoring. Commercial qualification began in early 2026 at Petrobras’ Mero field, with full production expected to begin in 2027.
The autonomous nodes are designed to collect higher-quality seismic data more frequently and at a lower cost than conventional survey methods. Full deployment at a large offshore field could require hundreds or thousands of the devices.
Kraken will also begin environmental baseline monitoring during the summer of 2026 at the Northern Endurance Partnership’s offshore carbon capture and storage site in the United Kingdom. Autonomous seabed landers will help verify that captured carbon dioxide remains contained beneath the seafloor.
The monitoring system combines current profiling, environmental sensing, seismic monitoring, underwater communications and remote data processing. This allows information from the storage site to be collected and delivered to operators on demand.
Kraken acquired Covelya Group on July 2, 2026, bringing Sonardyne, EIVA, Forcys, Voyis and Chelsea Technologies into the company. The combination expanded Kraken’s capabilities across sonar, navigation, positioning, imaging, power, communications and subsea data analytics.
