Kuro Raises €10 Million To Build AI Platform For General Contractors

Kuro Technology has raised €10 million in funding to expand its AI platform for general contractors, with the round led by UVC Partners. Foundamental, Realyze Ventures and helloworld also participated in the financing.

Berlin-based Kuro is developing what it describes as an AI foundation for general contractors, helping construction companies organize and analyze the large volumes of drawings, specifications, tenders, bids and other documents generated during major projects.

The company said six of its 12 existing customers are among the 20 largest general contractors in the German-speaking region. Customers include Goldbeck, Hochtief Infrastructure, Köster, Implenia, Geiger and Riedel.

Kuro’s platform processes project documents and connects them through a shared data model. Customers can layer their own building components, review criteria, work packages and other internal rules onto that information.

The platform is designed to identify contradictions between drawings and specifications, determine what needs to be built, flag project risks, enrich components within 3D models, process public tenders and evaluate subcontractor bids.

Changes and corrections made by estimators can also be retained in a company’s rulebook and applied to future projects, allowing organizations to preserve project knowledge rather than losing it when individual jobs are completed or experienced employees leave.

Kuro said customers report approximately 90 hours of time savings per bid, while 70% of users say the platform identified information they otherwise would have missed.

The company initially concentrated on the estimating process but plans to extend the platform across additional back-office functions including procurement, accounting and compliance.

The opportunity comes as Europe increases investment across roads, housing, data centers, energy and defense infrastructure. EU member states invested approximately €1.6 trillion in construction during 2025, according to the company’s announcement.

Kuro was founded in Berlin in November 2024 by Lea Scherer and Jonas Minkler, who previously held leadership roles at construction technology companies alcemy and Capmo.

The company currently employs 16 people in Berlin.

KEY QUOTES:

“We price more bids with the same team, but that’s a side effect. What matters is that we spot risks in the tender quickly, before we submit our price.”

Nils Köster, CEO of Köster GmbH

“An industry that forgets faster than it learns cannot deliver on these contracts. We see the construction industry as the foundation for progress in Europe. With Kuro, our job is to give it the technical foundation it needs to live up to this continent’s ambition. The general contractors that manage to turn their knowledge into a product will depend less on individual people as they grow.”

Lea Scherer, CEO of Kuro Technology

“We started in estimation because that’s where a project is born and decided. But the problems carry through into everything that follows: too much contradictory data and knowledge that isn’t passed on from project to project. That’s why we’re now expanding the platform step by step across the entire back office, building a system that learns and gets better with every project.”

Jonas Minkler, Co-Founder and CPO of Kuro Technology

“We’re delighted to be working with Lea and Jonas. We have known each other for many years, since well before Kuro was founded. They bring years of startup experience and deep industry knowledge, which matters a great deal in construction. And it’s paying off: they are already delivering measurable value to customers with their first use cases in estimating, and are gradually extending the product to other back-office processes such as procurement, accounting, and compliance. The fast-growing customer base of leading general contractors proves their strategy right.”
