KVP International has acquired SafePath Laboratories and IVD Research, collectively known as SafePath-IVD, strengthening its position in veterinary diagnostics while expanding capabilities across human health markets. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition brings a Carlsbad, California–based diagnostics manufacturer and contract development and manufacturing organization under the KVP umbrella. SafePath-IVD holds FDA, ISO 13485, and USDA licenses and is recognized for its expertise in rapid test development, research, and manufacturing. As part of the transaction, SafePath-IVD will serve as KVP’s dedicated research, development, and manufacturing partner for veterinary diagnostic products while continuing to grow its contract manufacturing and human diagnostics businesses.
KVP, headquartered in McKinney, Texas, plans to leverage SafePath-IVD’s scientific and manufacturing capabilities alongside its global distribution network to accelerate the development of point-of-care and rapid diagnostic solutions for veterinarians. The company said the partnership will support the creation of new tests and technologies that complement KVP’s expanding diagnostics portfolio, while also enabling SafePath-IVD to scale across veterinary and human health markets.
SafePath-IVD will continue operating under its existing leadership team, maintaining its laboratory expertise, infrastructure, and multi-market focus. KVP indicated that its investment will be used to expand infrastructure, accelerate development pipelines, and increase manufacturing capacity to address rising global demand for diagnostic solutions.
Founded in 1964, KVP is a global provider of veterinary consumables, diagnostics, and patient care products, serving distributors, hospital groups, and veterinary professionals in more than 30 countries. The acquisition represents a strategic step in KVP’s broader expansion into diagnostics, particularly in point-of-care testing, as demand continues to grow for accessible and scalable solutions in both veterinary and human health settings.
