Labcorp has acquired MLM Medical Labs, a global central and specialty laboratory provider with operations across the United States, Germany, and South Africa. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition expands Labcorp’s international central laboratory footprint and strengthens its biomarker and specialty testing capabilities for clinical trials.
Following the transaction, Labcorp said it becomes the only central laboratory provider with a wholly owned laboratory network spanning four continents: North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
The combination brings together Labcorp’s scientific capabilities, operational infrastructure, and global scale with MLM’s existing laboratory network and specialty testing operations.
Labcorp expects the expanded network to support complex multinational clinical trials with more consistent scientific, regulatory, and operational oversight. The acquisition also increases Labcorp’s presence in Africa, where MLM operates what the companies describe as the continent’s first fully CAP-accredited central laboratory.
Labcorp said the additional biomarker, specialty testing, and regulatory capabilities are increasingly important as drug development programs become more scientifically complex and clinical trials involve broader international patient populations.
