Lapmaster Wolters and Precision Surfacing Solutions received a strategic minority investment from affiliates of The Cynosure Group and Fernweh Group to support its next phase of expansion.
The investment strengthens Lapmaster Wolters’ balance sheet and brings two additional long-term strategic partners into the business.
Lapmaster Wolters provides high-precision machine systems, consumables, and surface-processing technologies for semiconductor, advanced materials, precision optics, and advanced packaging applications.
The company expects demand for precision surface finishing to continue growing as semiconductor manufacturers and other advanced manufacturers pursue tighter tolerances and higher production throughput.
Additional growth drivers include AI and high-performance computing infrastructure, expansion of advanced packaging capacity, and increased use of materials such as silicon carbide in electric vehicles and power applications.
Lapmaster Wolters said its machines are used in the production of a significant portion of the world’s prime semiconductor wafers.
The new capital is expected to support product development, global sales and service expansion, additional capacity, and new precision-surfacing technologies.
Cantor Fitzgerald served as financial advisor to Lapmaster Wolters, while Latham & Watkins provided legal counsel.
