Latham & Watkins announced insurance transactional and regulatory partner Frank Monaco has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in its Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice, adding experience advising insurers and reinsurers on complex deals and regulatory matters.
The firm said Monaco’s practice is centered on reinsurance transactions, including the transfer of large blocks of reinsurance business, and that his regulatory experience is increasingly important in insurance company acquisitions, restructurings, and de novo formations. Latham said Monaco also advises on a range of insurance-related transactions, including mergers and acquisitions involving insurers and reinsurers, block and flow reinsurance transactions, pension risk transfer transactions, and reserve financings, including work on collateral arrangements and insurance regulatory issues such as holding company act matters and licensing.
Latham also said Monaco advises private equity and private credit funds and asset managers on establishing or capitalizing reinsurance vehicles, positioning his arrival as a complement to the firm’s insurance-focused M&A capabilities and broader private equity platform.
Monaco joins Latham from Clifford Chance. He earned his JD from Fordham University School of Law and his BA from Trinity College.
Latham said Monaco is the third partner announced in January who will join its New York-based Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice, following the previously announced arrivals of sports-focused M&A and private equity partners Matthew Eisler and Russell Hedman.
