Latham & Watkins LLP announced that John McGaraghan has joined the firm’s Bay Area offices as a partner in its Data & Technology Transactions Practice, strengthening its capabilities in advising technology-driven companies on complex intellectual property, licensing, and commercial matters.
McGaraghan brings extensive experience advising public and private companies across all stages of growth, with a focus on software, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies. His work includes structuring and negotiating complex commercial and IP agreements, as well as advising on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, and other strategic transactions.
The firm highlighted that McGaraghan’s arrival aligns with growing client demand in high-growth sectors such as AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure, where companies increasingly require sophisticated legal guidance on technology and data-related transactions.
McGaraghan joins from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and holds a JD from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and a BA from the University of California, San Diego.
