Latham & Watkins has hired John Stavinoha as a partner in its Houston office, adding an experienced oil and gas deal lawyer to the firm’s M&A and Private Equity Practice. The move bolsters Latham’s energy sector capabilities in Texas, with a focus on upstream and midstream transactions.
Stavinoha advises private equity firms and public and private companies on acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas properties, pipeline systems, and related infrastructure, as well as energy project development. His practice spans conventional and unconventional assets and the midstream systems that support production and transportation.
He also regularly structures and negotiates complex commercial agreements tied to upstream and midstream operations, including gathering, transportation, processing, and storage arrangements for gas, crude, and NGLs. His experience further includes leases and participation structures such as farmout and participation agreements, along with development and operating agreements. He has advised on produced water gathering and disposal arrangements, water supply agreements, and surface use agreements.
Stavinoha joins Latham from Bracewell. He earned his JD from The University of Texas School of Law and his BA from The University of Texas at Austin.
