Latham & Watkins is adding Sascha Schubert as a partner in its Brussels office within the Antitrust & Competition Practice, further cementing the firm’s leadership in EU and global competition law. Schubert is widely regarded as one of Europe’s preeminent competition lawyers, with a practice focused on complex EU antitrust proceedings, merger control, and digital regulation matters, particularly in the technology and telecommunications sectors.
Schubert brings extensive experience advising leading multinational companies on high‑profile cross‑border transactions, intricate investigations, and strategic regulatory issues. He has represented clients in some of the European Commission’s most significant merger control and antitrust matters, including ten Phase II EU merger investigations, and has played a leading role in precedent‑setting enforcement proceedings under the Digital Markets Act.
Brussels remains a central hub for global competition enforcement and digital regulation, making Schubert’s arrival strategically important for Latham’s European and international clients. His addition strengthens an already formidable team and gives clients even greater depth for handling high‑stakes matters before the European Commission and other regulators.
Schubert joins Latham from Freshfields. He is a German‑qualified lawyer who completed his state examinations in Cologne, holds a Maîtrise en Droit from the University Paris I (Panthéon‑Sorbonne), and is admitted to practice in both Germany and Belgium.
