Latham & Watkins announced that Joel Weinberger has rejoined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner in its Structured Finance Practice, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in securitization and complex capital solutions.

Weinberger advises clients on securitization, structured finance, secured lending, and receivables transactions across a broad range of asset classes. His experience includes complex structured financings involving diverse investment and securitization structures, with particular depth in consumer loans, healthcare receivables, credit card receivables, equipment loans and leases, mortgage assets, and various esoteric assets. He also counsels funds on structuring sophisticated investment instruments, including matters related to ring-fencing, bankruptcy remoteness, true sale, and substantive consolidation.

The firm said its structured finance practice has experienced significant growth, with increasing client demand for innovative and bespoke financing solutions. Weinberger’s return is expected to further enhance the team’s ability to deliver integrated corporate and finance advice on complex capital structures, particularly in transactions involving distressed situations, restructurings, and sponsor-driven capital solutions.

Weinberger rejoins Latham from Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He previously served as an associate in Latham’s Banking & Private Credit Practice.

Latham & Watkins is a global law firm advising clients on complex transactions, litigation, and regulatory matters across major financial centers worldwide.
