By Amit Chowdhry • May 19, 2026

Latham & Watkins announced that experienced trial lawyer Carson Young has joined the firm’s Houston office as a partner in the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice. Young brings extensive experience handling high-stakes commercial disputes and litigation matters across a range of industries, with a particular focus on Texas-based disputes that often span multiple jurisdictions.

Young has represented clients in complex litigation involving contractual disputes, intellectual property matters, insurance recovery, antitrust claims, and securities-related issues. He has argued cases in both state and federal courts nationwide, with experience covering multidistrict litigation, mass tort defense, trade secret misappropriation, fraud claims, shareholder activism defense, and contract disputes. Throughout his career, he has secured dismissals, dispositive rulings, and favorable outcomes in major litigation matters.

Nick Dhesi, managing partner of Latham’s Houston office, said Young’s arrival strengthens the firm’s growing litigation capabilities in Texas and nationally. The firm emphasized that Young’s broad litigation background aligns closely with its strengths across litigation, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and capital solutions.

Taj Clayton, chair of Latham’s Litigation & Trial Department in Texas, highlighted Young’s courtroom experience and described him as a trial-tested advocate whose addition further supports the firm’s expansion strategy in Texas and across the United States.

Steve Feldman, global chair of Latham’s Complex Commercial Litigation Practice, said Young’s commercial litigation background and ties to the Texas business community make him a strong fit for the firm’s client base and long term growth plans in the region.

Young said he was attracted to Latham’s integrated litigation platform, interdisciplinary approach to complex disputes, and strong Texas presence. He also noted his enthusiasm about rejoining Taj Clayton at the firm.

Young is the third partner to join Latham’s Complex Commercial Litigation Practice in Texas this year, following the additions of Taj Clayton and Scott Thomas.

Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Young practiced at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He earned his JD from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law and his BBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
