Latham & Watkins has announced the addition of Lydia Torne as a partner in the firm’s London office, where she will be a key member of the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice.
With a deep specialization in intellectual property transactions, Torne brings extensive experience in various aspects of the field. Her expertise includes handling complex licensing agreements, facilitating collaborations between businesses, structuring joint ventures, and negotiating consortium agreements. She is skilled at navigating transactions that involve the commercialization and monetization of intellectual property, specifically tailored for firms within the life sciences, healthcare, and digital health industries.
In addition to her transactional work, Torne possesses a well-rounded knowledge of regulatory compliance matters. This includes understanding product classification, managing interactions with healthcare professionals, overseeing clinical trial processes (with a focus on data protection issues), ensuring market access for new products, meeting supply chain requirements, and executing effective marketing strategies. Furthermore, her breadth of knowledge includes pharmacovigilance, which is critical for monitoring the safety of pharmaceutical products.
Before joining Latham & Watkins, Torne worked at Simmons & Simmons, where she honed her skills in intellectual property law. She holds an LLB in Law and French Law from University College London, providing her with a solid foundation in legal principles, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Intellectual Property Law from the prestigious University of Oxford. This combination of education and experience positions Torrne as a leading expert in her field, ready to make significant contributions to the firm and its clients.
