Lazard announced the appointment of Edouard Panié as Managing Director and Co-Head of European Financial Sponsors Coverage. This move further strengthens the firm’s advisory leadership and long-standing relationships with private capital investors across the region. Panié will report to Klaus H. Hessberger, Global Co-Head and Head of Europe for Lazard’s Financial Sponsors Group.
With nearly two decades of experience at Goldman Sachs, where he served as Managing Director, Panié has advised on more than 60 landmark M&A, debt, and equity transactions for top-tier alternative asset managers in private equity, growth equity, and infrastructure. His work has spanned entrepreneurs, family offices, and major corporations, positioning him as one of Europe’s most seasoned advisors to private capital clients.
Lazard’s Financial Sponsors Group plays a pivotal role in advising private equity firms, institutional investors, and alternative asset managers on complex transactions globally. Panié’s appointment reflects Lazard’s continued investment in its European platform and its commitment to expanding relationships with sponsors amid a rapidly evolving private markets landscape.
Panié will be based in London, collaborating closely with Lazard’s teams across Europe to deliver strategic advice and bespoke financial solutions to clients. His deep industry knowledge and global network are expected to enhance further Lazard’s ability to serve clients navigating transformational changes in the private markets ecosystem.
Before joining Goldman Sachs, Panié began his career as an engineer at General Electric. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an engineering degree from CentraleSupélec.
