Lazard has hired Daniel Burton-Morgan as Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets Advisory, North America, within its Strategic Capital Solutions Group, adding an experienced equity capital markets banker to a newly created senior position.
Based in New York, Burton-Morgan will lead Lazard’s equity capital markets advisory efforts across North America as the firm expands the range of capital markets advice it provides to corporate clients and financial sponsors.
In the role, Burton-Morgan will work with companies, sponsors, boards and management teams on equity capital markets strategy and transaction execution. His responsibilities will include advising clients on initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, secondary offerings and block trades.
The appointment gives Lazard a dedicated senior executive focused on helping clients evaluate and execute equity financing alternatives while drawing on the firm’s broader strategic advisory relationships.
Lazard said the newly created position is part of an effort to deepen its equity capital markets advisory capabilities in North America and more fully serve clients across their capital markets needs. The firm already operates an established equity capital markets advisory franchise in Europe and is seeking to build a comparable capability for clients in North America.
That expansion is also intended to give Lazard’s corporate and financial sponsor clients a more integrated global offering. Burton-Morgan’s experience working on IPOs, block trades and sponsor-related transactions is expected to complement Lazard’s existing relationships with companies and private capital firms.
Burton-Morgan brings more than two decades of equity capital markets experience to Lazard. Before joining the firm, he spent his career at Bank of America, where he most recently served as Head of Americas ECM Financial Sponsor Origination.
His experience with financial sponsors is particularly relevant to the Strategic Capital Solutions Group, which advises clients on financing and capital structure decisions alongside Lazard’s broader financial advisory capabilities.
By adding a dedicated North American equity capital markets advisory leader, Lazard is expanding its ability to advise clients not only on whether and when to pursue an equity transaction, but also on the structure, timing and execution considerations surrounding those transactions.
Burton-Morgan will also work within a broader Lazard platform that advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and capital solutions, restructuring and liability management and other strategic matters. Lazard operates across North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
The appointment reflects Lazard’s continued investment in its Strategic Capital Solutions capabilities as companies and sponsors evaluate increasingly varied sources of financing and liquidity across public and private markets.
Burton-Morgan holds a First-Class degree in Management Science from the University of Warwick.
