LB Pharmaceuticals has appointed Joseph Miller as Chief Financial Officer, adding a biopharmaceutical finance executive with more than two decades of experience spanning financial strategy, operations and organizational transformation.
The appointment comes as LB Pharmaceuticals approaches a potentially important development period involving its lead drug candidate LB-102 and the upcoming NOVA-2 clinical trial readout.
Miller most recently served as Chief Financial Officer of Aurinia Pharmaceuticals, where he helped build and scale the company’s financial and operational infrastructure during its transition from late-stage clinical development into commercialization.
During his tenure, Aurinia launched LUPKYNIS, or voclosporin, the first FDA-approved oral therapy for active lupus nephritis.
Miller also oversaw revenue growth, profitability and an ex-U.S. licensing and collaboration agreement with Otsuka Pharmaceutical.
Previously, Miller served as Chief Financial Officer, Principal Executive Officer and Corporate Secretary of Avalo Therapeutics, formerly Cerecor.
At Avalo, he led the acquisitions of Aevi Genomic Medicine and Ichorion Therapeutics and helped execute the divestiture of the company’s commercial portfolio to Aytu BioScience.
Earlier, Miller served as Vice President of Finance at Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, where he helped build the finance organization during a period of rapid expansion that ultimately culminated in Sucampo’s merger with Mallinckrodt.
He has also held finance roles at QIAGEN, Eppendorf and KPMG.
Miller holds a B.S. in accounting from Villanova University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
LB Pharmaceuticals is developing neuromedicines for underserved brain disorders.
Its lead candidate, LB-102, is being developed as a potential benzamide antipsychotic treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia.
