Leaf Secures $13 Million Series B To Expand AI-Powered Agricultural Data Infrastructure

Leaf Agriculture announced that it has raised $13 million in a Series B funding round co-led by Leaps by Bayer and a group of strategic investors, strengthening the company’s position as a provider of agricultural data management infrastructure for AI applications.

Founded in 2021, Leaf provides tools that connect and organize data generated by farm machinery, soil laboratories, weather stations, satellites, and farm management software. By cleaning and structuring data from disparate systems, the company enables agricultural businesses to develop AI-powered applications and analytics.

Leaf said it currently processes data covering more than 20% of global crop acres annually, serving as a foundational infrastructure layer for companies building digital agriculture solutions. The company compares its role in agriculture to that of Stripe in payments and Plaid in banking.

As farmers face a challenging economic environment marked by elevated fertilizer costs, depressed crop prices, and declining farm income, Leaf’s platform is helping agricultural companies improve efficiency and reduce costs. Crop insurance partners using the platform can process claims in days rather than months, while agricultural retailers are able to provide field-specific seed and chemical recommendations based on data-driven models.

The company also supports compliance and sustainability initiatives, creating additional revenue opportunities for farmers and reducing the time spent on manual data entry.

Leaf’s customers include major agricultural retailers, input suppliers, crop insurance companies, food processors, and commodity traders seeking to optimize operations and deploy artificial intelligence tools.

The company said growing adoption of digital technologies in agriculture has led to increasing fragmentation of data across incompatible systems and file formats. Leaf addresses this challenge by integrating information across pre-planning, planting, growing, harvesting, and crop marketing activities.

The funding will support the expansion of the company’s platform and accelerate the adoption of AI-enabled tools throughout the agricultural sector.
