LeanTaaS Acquires Aidin To Expand Patient Flow And Care Transition Platform

LeanTaaS has acquired Aidin, expanding its healthcare operations platform to connect inpatient capacity and patient-flow intelligence with the workflows required to transition patients into appropriate post-acute care.

Aidin serves more than 200 hospitals across approximately 20 health systems and coordinates more than 2 million referrals annually through a network of more than 21,000 post-acute providers.

The acquisition expands iQueue for Inpatient Flow by connecting information about discharge readiness and barriers with the care-transition workflows needed to move patients into their next setting of care.

LeanTaaS said effective patient flow begins when a patient is admitted and continues through the eventual transition to another care setting.

Approximately 40% of discharged Medicare patients require post-acute care, but those patients account for more than 55% of avoidable hospital days, according to data cited by the company.

Coordinating these transitions can involve placement, authorization, patient choice and communication among providers, often across fragmented systems.

Aidin is designed to address those challenges through shared referral and coordination workflows.

According to LeanTaaS, Aidin customers have reduced length of stay by an average of 0.86 days, reduced placement time by 50% and generated average savings of approximately $1.7 million per hospital annually.

LeanTaaS’ iQueue for Inpatient Flow analyzes patient demand, operational barriers and other priorities during inpatient stays, while Aidin extends the workflow beyond the hospital into post-acute referral and care-transition coordination.

The combined platform is intended to help healthcare teams identify transition needs earlier, initiate necessary work sooner, reduce avoidable inpatient days and free hospital capacity for additional patients.

LeanTaaS is used by nearly 200 health systems across more than 1,200 hospitals, centers and clinics.

The company said iQueue for Inpatient Flow delivers average annual savings of approximately $10,000 per inpatient bed.

KEY QUOTES:

“Our vision is to become the central nervous system for health systems by helping them better sense, understand, act, and learn across the enterprise and patient journey. This acquisition brings that vision to life by helping health systems manage patient flow from admission through transition. By bringing Aidin’s care transition capabilities together with iQueue’s inpatient flow intelligence, we can connect intelligence with action beyond the four walls of the hospital, helping health systems identify needs earlier, orchestrate the work required to move patients forward, reduce avoidable days, and unlock capacity for the patients who need it.”

Mohan Giridharadas, Founder and CEO of LeanTaaS

“Identifying where a patient needs to go next is only the beginning. Completing a complex care transition requires care teams to coordinate across patients, families, payers, and providers, often under enormous time pressure. We built Aidin to give the people involved in those transitions a shared workflow, greater visibility, and more accountability to move patients forward. By joining LeanTaaS, we can connect that work earlier in the patient journey and create a more seamless approach to patient flow.”

Russell Graney, Founder and CEO of Aidin

“Vanderbilt Health uses both LeanTaaS and Aidin to improve patient flow. We are excited to see these solutions work better together and make care transitions simpler for our teams and patients.”

“Delayed discharges result in billions of dollars in avoidable hospital costs each year, including the expense of additional inpatient days for which hospitals often receive no additional reimbursement. But the cost of a delayed discharge isn’t limited to the extra day. It also includes the capacity that can’t be used for another patient. Connecting inpatient flow intelligence with care transition coordination creates a compelling opportunity to address both.”
