Legio has raised $5 million in seed funding from Klass Capital to build an AI-native safety and security operations platform designed specifically for colleges and universities.
The financing will accelerate product development and expand Legio’s work with design partners across university and college public safety departments.
Legio is developing a unified system of record intended to manage dispatch, incident response, case work, patrols and asset management while using operational data to generate regulatory reports and compliance documentation.
Because day-to-day public safety activities are recorded directly in Legio, the platform is designed to assemble compliance materials such as daily crime logs and Annual Security Reports from live operational information while keeping safety personnel involved in the process.
The company was founded by CEO Darren Hill, Mike Wertman and Joe Crampton, who have experience across campus public safety and enterprise security software.
The seed financing will specifically support product development, engineering hires and the company’s higher education design partner program.
Legio’s broader platform includes incident management, guard tours, dispatch, case management, regulatory reporting and asset management. The company is positioning the system as an alternative to campus safety products adapted from more general enterprise security software.
