Leica Biosystems Acquires StatLab From Linden Capital And Audax Private Equity

Leica Biosystems, a Danaher company, has completed its acquisition of StatLab Medical Products from Linden Capital Partners and Audax Private Equity, expanding its portfolio of products used across the anatomic pathology and cancer diagnostics workflow.

StatLab is a privately held provider of pre-analytical consumables and equipment used by pathology laboratories.

Leica Biosystems intends to combine StatLab’s portfolio and customer relationships with its existing capabilities in digital pathology, computational pathology, advanced staining, imaging, and AI-enabled diagnostics.

The transaction expands Leica’s ability to provide products across the pathology process, beginning with specimen collection and preparation and extending through staining, digital imaging, analysis, and diagnosis.

The company believes a more integrated platform can help laboratories improve consistency and standardization while reducing the amount of variation across histology workflows.

These capabilities are becoming increasingly important as laboratories manage rising case volumes, more complex diagnostic requirements, and staffing pressures.

Leica said the combined portfolio is designed to help laboratories move from sample collection to diagnostic answers with greater speed and consistency. StatLab Medical Products Acquir…

StatLab’s pre-analytical products add capabilities at the earlier stages of that process.

Leica’s existing portfolio includes technologies covering sample preparation, staining, imaging, digital pathology, computational analysis, and reporting.

By combining those operations, Leica is seeking to create a broader end-to-end ecosystem for anatomic pathology laboratories.

The transaction also supports Leica Biosystems’ work with biopharmaceutical companies developing precision cancer therapies.

Pathology information can play an important role in characterizing tumors and helping clinicians determine treatment approaches, making consistency and speed across the diagnostic workflow important to both care delivery and therapeutic development.

Leica Biosystems said StatLab and its existing business will continue focusing on customer service and product quality during the integration.

StatLab was previously owned by healthcare-focused private equity firm Linden Capital Partners and Audax Private Equity.

Leica’s portfolio spans anatomic and digital pathology, with products supporting laboratories from biopsy and specimen preparation through diagnosis.

The StatLab transaction increases the breadth of that portfolio while extending Leica’s presence into additional consumables and equipment used before samples reach later diagnostic stages.
