Leica Biosystems, an operating company of Danaher and a global leader in anatomic pathology solutions, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire StatLab Medical Products, a privately held developer and manufacturer of anatomic pathology products. StatLab is currently owned by Linden Capital Partners and Audax Private Equity. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary regulatory clearances. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded more than 50 years ago, StatLab supplies anatomic pathology laboratories with a broad portfolio of products spanning the pre-analytical and analytical histology workflow — from specimen collection and tissue processing through slide preparation and staining. Its solutions are designed to help laboratories improve efficiency, standardization, and diagnostic consistency. StatLab has built its reputation on product quality and customer relationships across the global pathology market.
The strategic rationale centers on the convergence of traditional histology workflows with AI-enabled cancer diagnostics. As pathology laboratories move toward computational pathology and AI-assisted diagnostic tools, the quality and standardization of upstream specimen preparation becomes increasingly important — inconsistent pre-analytical processes can undermine the reliability of AI-generated diagnostic outputs. By combining StatLab’s broad consumables portfolio with Leica Biosystems’ existing strengths in digital and computational pathology, the combined entity aims to offer laboratories a more integrated pathway to adopt AI-enabled diagnostics at scale.
Leica Biosystems is a subsidiary of Danaher, a global life sciences and diagnostics company with approximately 60,000 employees worldwide. Danaher’s diagnostics businesses focus on accelerating cancer diagnosis and reducing the time and cost of therapeutic development and delivery.
