LEIFRAS announced that it has entered into a share transfer agreement to acquire 100% of the equity interests in SWIFT JAPAN.
LEIFRAS is a Tokyo-based sports and social business company focused on youth sports and community engagement. The company is also one of Japan’s leading operators of children’s sports schools and school club activity support businesses.
Swift Japan is a childcare facility operator in Aichi Prefecture. The acquisition is expected to extend LEIFRAS’ customer reach to children from infancy and accelerate the company’s expansion into the childcare sector.
Under the agreement, LEIFRAS will acquire all of Swift Japan’s common stock for approximately JPY454.6 million. The transaction is expected to close on July 1, 2026.
Through the partnership, LEIFRAS aims to build an educational ecosystem that supports children’s long-term physical and mental development from infancy. The company said the acquisition aligns with its broader goal of combining childcare infrastructure with sports-based non-cognitive skill development methodologies.
LEIFRAS noted that the growing number of dual-income households in Japan has increased demand for childcare and after-school support. The company also pointed to the “First-Grade Wall,” a shortage of after-school childcare capacity for children entering elementary school, as a growing social challenge.
By partnering with Swift Japan, LEIFRAS plans to build a more seamless support model connecting children from preschool graduation to its multi-sport schools and after-school daycare networks.
Swift Japan operates licensed nurseries in education-conscious districts of Nagoya City with a near 100% capacity utilization rate. LEIFRAS plans to layer its proprietary sports-based non-cognitive skill development methodology onto Swift Japan’s subsidy-backed recurring revenue base as an extracurricular service.
LEIFRAS said Swift Japan’s employment conditions, current operations, management frameworks, facility directors, and nursery teachers will remain in place after the acquisition. LEIFRAS plans to support the business through recruitment, teacher training, and administrative systems.
The company said the integration of Swift Japan is intended to support its long-term growth objectives while deepening partnerships with local governments and businesses.
As of December 31, 2025, LEIFRAS was recognized as one of Japan’s largest operators of children’s sports schools by membership and facilities, according to Tokyo Shoko Research.
KEY QUOTES:
“Since our founding, we have advocated for fostering children’s non-cognitive skills through sports. The business integration of Swift Japan is far more than a tactical footprint expansion; it is a profound commitment to supporting child development from infancy (age 0) and co-designing regional environments where parents can raise families with peace of mind. We are deeply honored to inherit the beautiful brand identity and philosophy that the team at Swift Japan has built. Together, we believe we will evolve beyond the boundaries of sports into a next-generation comprehensive educational platform that supports youth development while generating long-term value for shareholders.”
Kiyotaka Ito, Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer of LEIFRAS
