By Amit Chowdhry ● Oct 10, 2025

Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group specializes in designing and delivering hardware, software, and services that power modern data centers and AI research. They focus on providing high-performance, energy-efficient computing solutions, including their ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile portfolios, which encompass servers, storage, hyperconverged infrastructure, and AI-ready solutions. Their mission is to help organizations of all sizes modernize their IT, scale their AI capabilities, and manage costs, complexity, and environmental impact through innovations like Neptune liquid cooling and compact ThinkEdge devices for AI at the edge. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group Vice President and General Manager Scott Tease to gain a deeper understanding of the organization.

Scott Tease’s Background

Scott Tease

Could you tell me more about your background? Tease said:

“I’ve spent my career in enterprise infrastructure—everything from servers to high-performance computing. I currently lead Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group, where we design the hardware, software, and services that power everything from AI research to modern data centers. Our mission is to make high-performance, energy-efficient computing accessible to organizations of all sizes.”

Core Services

What are the core services in your department? Tease explained:

“We develop and deliver Lenovo’s ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile portfolios—this includes servers, storage, hyperconverged infrastructure, software and AI-ready solutions. Our focus is on helping businesses modernize their IT and scale their AI capabilities while managing cost, complexity, and environmental impact.”

Commitment To Sustainability

What can you say about Lenovo’s commitment to sustainability, especially in the wake of Earth Day? Tease shared:
“Sustainability isn’t a side project for us—it’s core to how we design our products and services. As AI drives up data center demands, we’re responding with smarter, right sized and more energy-efficient infrastructure. Our Neptune liquid cooling, for example, is a great example of how we’re engineering for both performance and reduced environmental impact.  Within our ThinkEdge portfolio we are bringing AI out to the data at the edge in compact and rugged devices that deliver extremely energy efficient AI.”

Driving Energy-Efficient Computing

How are you helping to drive energy-efficient computing? Tease emphasized:

“One way is through innovations like Neptune, which replaces traditional air cooling with liquid cooling. This can cut power use by up to 40% in data centers. Our new ThinkAgile HX V4 GPT-in-a-Box solution, featuring Neptune, delivers up to 25% energy savings while still meeting the demands of high-powered AI workloads.  We are at the beginning of AI technological advancement – we are partnering closely with the industry to improve the efficiency of not only hardware but also of the AI models.”

Investment In AI Infrastructure

Why is Lenovo investing in AI infrastructure now? Tease pointed out:

“We’re at a pivotal moment where AI is becoming mainstream—but many businesses don’t have the infrastructure or skills to support it. Our new solutions are designed to help companies quickly deploy AI workloads, with scalable, turnkey systems that also reduce complexity, cost, and environmental footprint.”

Infrastructure Changes Helping Companies Be More Sustainable

How do these infrastructure changes help companies be more sustainable? Tease noted:

“Besides cutting energy use, we’re also reducing physical footprint and waste. For instance, our new storage arrays offer up to 97% energy savings and 99% density improvement—meaning you need less hardware and space to do more. That lowers emissions, packaging, and cooling requirements.”

Customer Size

Are these solutions just for big enterprises? Tease highlighted:

Not at all. We’ve designed a range of solutions—from enterprise-grade platforms to SMB-friendly storage that’s simple to deploy and manage. Our goal is to make sustainable AI infrastructure accessible to companies at every stage of their digital journey.”

Role In The Circular Economy

Can you explain Lenovo’s role in the circular economy? Tease revealed:

“Absolutely. We offer services like Lenovo Asset Recovery, which helps customers recycle old gear responsibly. We’re also increasing the use of post-consumer recycled materials in our products and designing for recyclability from the start.  Through our Services Solutions Group Lenovo can help any customer take an end to end view of their sustainability practices from IT selection optimization to shipping to ongoing operations at the data center level even on to end of life disposal and recycling.”

Future Goals

What’s next for your team in terms of sustainability innovation? Tease concluded:

We’re focused on continuing to push the boundaries of efficiency—whether that’s through smarter cooling, smarter scaling, or smarter software. Sustainability will remain a key lens through which we evaluate every new product or solution we bring to market.”
