LeydenJar has secured €13 million in equity financing led by Extantia and Invest-NL, alongside €10 million in customer commitments from a major U.S. electronics company. The funding will complete the final phase of construction at PlantOne in Eindhoven and enable production to begin in 2027.

The company’s breakthrough anode technology replaces conventional graphite with 100% pure silicon, boosting battery energy density by more than 50%. These silicon anodes also cut charging times to under twelve minutes and reduce CO₂ emissions by around eighty-five percent during manufacturing.

PlantOne will house proprietary PECVD machines designed to coat large rolls of silicon anode material at scale. Once operational, the facility will produce 125,000 square meters of silicon anode sheets each year—enough to supply five million smartphone batteries or meet the global demand for wireless earbuds.

Interest from global battery makers and OEMs has validated LeydenJar’s approach. Major cell manufacturers have already integrated the company’s anode material into their development pipelines, targeting next-generation applications such as AI-powered wearables, extended-range electric vehicles, and electric aviation.

In addition to ramping up production, LeydenJar will expand its commercial team and build out operational infrastructure to support customer rollouts worldwide. The company’s Eindhoven site marks the first step in a planned global manufacturing network that will bring pure silicon anode technology to market at an industrial scale.

Originating in Leiden, LeydenJar has grown into a deep-tech leader with research and development operations across Europe, Asia, and North America. With PlantOne slated to open in 2027, the company is poised to redefine the battery industry by unlocking smaller, lighter, and more powerful power cells for the products of tomorrow.
